Disappointingly, I did not pass the writing test.

And I have a premonition that A levels results count a lot in their decision-making, unless my Chinese standard deteriorated so badly that there's a serious discrepancy between this and my previous test.

Because the questions were the same.

Now, it's just dismaying coz there's no perfect avenue I can direct my passion for writing in, maybe except blogging now and then.

I guess in the near term, no more attempts at scholarships and...free money.

I shall concentrate on honing my writing skills, especially my chinese writing. There's a high possibility I'm losing the knack for writing well in Chinese due to the dearth of practice opportunities.

Though I can now definitely type fluently in English.

Just today, my legs took on a new life of their own and threatened that they'll break away if I persisted on walking.

And I walked on and on....

just for 4 stupid frames.

Didn't get them in the end, oh well.

I went as far as Bukit Gombak for the interview, but am truly glad that it lasted long enough, for me to not have regrets.

This recess week really do suck, save for the fact that I'm at home, binging on good food.

:)

I'm finally getting a well-deserved rest tomorrow, since for the past few days, i've been going places. Today's paintball was not that bad, but I would choose night cycling over paintball any day. Maybe it's the company, though i'm not complaining that Yingying is bad lah...you rock gal. LOL

though half the time i didn't know whether i shot what i intended to shoot. me fail shooting one ok.

Anyway, I think i've depleted all my luck. Couldn't find the MP and had to settle for PPIS social worker instead. I know it's better than nothing, but travelling to Bukit Gombak for a 20 minutes interview is no joke. Maybe i'll drop by IMM, settle the buying of the frames, and return to hall to place them in their princely positions.

Linger around and head back.

That will be the plan.

I have an orh-ceh, albeit a small one.
Though it's better than nothing.

Nobody understands my obsession with orh-cehs. HAha.

Night Cycling was ultimate fun. We struggled to keep up at the beginning, coz we had some novice cyclists. But everyone became more confident in the end, and we were cruising along the roads as it neared the end.

Prata was good. MACs was too. Plus I found out I look damn like a small school kid. Because the MAC auntie only gave me student discount out of the whole group. I still look young loh.

Now for pictures:

"gasp, it's the end of the year

"Jeppe falls asleep in a ditch...and wakes up in the Baron's bed. So he thinks he only dreamed that he was a poor farmhand. Then when he falls asleep again they carry him back to the ditch, and he wakes up again. This time he thinks he only dreamed he was lying in the Baron's bed." ---Ludvig Holberg's Jeppe on the Mount

"Once I dreamed I was a butterfly, and now I no longer know whether I am Chuang-tzu, who dreamed I was a butterfly, or whether I am a butterfly dreaming that I am Chuang-tzu."---Chuang Tzu

Is reality all but a dream, and tomorrow I would wake up a dream dreaming reality?

P.S: Are you an idealist or a materialist?"

Are we living a dream, or are we dreaming up our lives?

“The only thing I know is that I know nothing." ---好像是Aristotle说的

我存在吗,还是仅是另一个人的梦?我现在就处于“睡与梦之间,梦与非梦之间”,也处于虚幻与现实之间。

I contemplated attending the parliament seating today, but I had lessons, so was confined to the room and limited to the small google box. But it was satisfactory.

This was Tharman Shanmugaratname's first Budget delivery, can't say it was exciting, though there were a few laughs. The ministers were slouching in their seats and some looked really tired halfway through the speech. Every year, it's like that. It's hard to stand those long hours, and the seats do look very uncomfortable. But I would have killed to be there. :)

It was a largely conservative and somewhat pessimistic budget, I thought, though Tharman tried to add a few optimistic notes. Expected growth rate for the next fiscal year was reduced to 4-6% largely due to the state of the global economy. The US's recession plus the credit crunch have largely hit Asian exports and Singapore being vulnerable to global forces, would definitely be affected. We seem to be already feeling the pinch, as everyone has to tighten their pursestrings to deal with the higher costs of living. Increased oil prices and food prices will affect our daily lives, and higher oil prices do translate to higher transport and miscellaneous costs as well.

I guess the most hyped up part about his speech was the emphasis on R&D and innovation, as several initiatives are going to be implemented to boost innovation in certain sectors and industries. Lifelong learning was emphasized, and we'll reap the gains of the top-ups to our Post-Secondary Education Accounts. There were mentions of university and tertiary education.

He did continue the "no one gets left-behind" rhetoric to explain measures to close the income gap and distribute the wealth more evenly. Estate duty was scraped, thought it was good since it meant that foreigners won't hesitate too much to invest in properties in Singapore. Meant a higher degree of certainty. But it largely seems to be targeted at wooing investors and foreign immigrants.

Didn't get a reduced personal income tax, but there's a tax rebate. I doubt this will put to rests grouses of Singaporeans since the high costs of living is living some ppl high and dry. Ultimately, it was planned for the future, but kind of failed to resolve the immediate concerns and problems. Some Singaporeans might be disappointed.

I do find that Tharman as Finance Minister..hmm, not too bad. His finance policies are better than the education ones, oops.

Sharing of surplus though is quite generous. And surprisingly, we'll be having a budget deficit of 0.8 billion this year.

Well, enough of the heavy stuff then.

Yesterday twas' valentine's day, and singles nite out for us.

Love it.

While people were flocking to high-class restaurants for supposingly romantic candle-light dinners, the bunch was more than satisfied to settle for chilli crabs at Big Eater near City Harvest. We ate damn a lot man. And there were satays too...

Seow Si Min was sick so she had to settle for bland

My head is on the big side. LOL

YiLing is very kiasu when she sees crab

Seow diao me

Satay

and gluttons....

Chilli crabs! We order like don't know how many mantou can. And mantou got no "FEELING" hoho

Neighbours!

Damn unglam.

The girls talking

the mess we left.

Anyway, we were hysterically laughing all the way back. Or rather I was hysterically laughing. Crazie nite......

I'd say you should visit the Budget 2008 website: http://www.singaporebudget.gov.sg/index.html
The "Be a Finance Minister" game is quite lame though

Budget 2008 will be announced on Friday, and I'm pissed that I end lessons only at 12.30pm. Entrance into Parliament is on a first-come-first-serve basis, and I doubt I can make it on time.

Shucks. And since parliament seatings are always on a Friday, it means I wouldn't be able to catch the budget debates for future seatings.

URgh.

As much as I understand the agony some people are going through because of the horrendous assignment for 204, I actually had fun interviewing people on the NUS campus, partly because I had the help of a good ol'chum who brought me around (thanks girl!) and because it was fun just talkin to people. I didn't even mind being rejected. (stupid ang moh)

The interview with Dr Ann-Marie was fulfilling. On-the spot learning. And I also learnt that I had veered a bit off-course and she had to remind me that I should not do any speculations in my report. Felt a bit guilty that I forgot a bit about ethics in reporting because I was anxious to dig out the dirt but it was a lesson learnt.

Met Mavis and saw her guy. Saw Terence and hit on him for an interview. Saw some of the NP seniors. And actually, their campus is pretty similar to ours.

And, I officially declare that I love hall life, with those crazy monkeys living two floors below us. Having KFC at the 5th floor balcony was unimaginable before you guys, hahaha. Though we had to leave early, I still say

and plus, the KFC was goodie.

New year's coming, and I have work to do on New Year. Gotta interview my aunt's maid. Can't believe this.

But an incentive to welcome the new year, my wardrobe's bursting in excitement with new clothes. You see, me and my sis share our clothes. So it's kinda like new clothes X3!!!!So exciting
